Hi Everyone!
This is Camp Director Fran Cusick of Stowe Running Camp. I can’t believe that summer has arrived, yet somehow it has and that means that it’s nearly time for Stowe Running Camp! Below are some important reminders and information:
Camp Info Reminder
Stowe Running Camp 2026 will be held from Sunday July 19th to Friday July 24th at Vermont State University Castleton Campus (formerly Castleton State). I just want to emphasize again that the camp is NOT held in the town of Stowe, Vermont, despite the name…so please don’t go there.
Drop Off and Pickup
Campers can be dropped off between 12 and 2 PM on Sunday July 19th and can be picked up between 11 and 12 PM on Friday July 24th. We will be hosting a brief ceremony on Friday at 11 PM that parents are welcome to attend.
Paying Camp Balance
The tuition for camp is $700. The majority of people who have signed up have put down the initial deposit of $200. Here are the instructions on how to pay the balance. You can either pay via PayPal or with a check. Check is the preferred method of payment!
The info for both payment methods is below:

MSTCA Camperships
For all MA residents who applied for the Robert McIntyre Campership, they have not yet announced the recipients. I will email the MSTCA today to find out when those names will be revealed; so please hold off on paying the balance until we have this information.
What Should I Bring to Camp?
Here is a packing list of things to bring: What to Bring to Camp Document.
What Does a Typical Day of Camp Look Like?
I’ve also gotten a lot of emails about what we actually do all day, which is a fair question! Here is a sample day: Stowe Running Camp Sample Day. While days vary quite a bit, the feedback we’ve received is that we have a good mix of running, educational activities, and free time.
How Much Mileage Will I Be Running?
One of the most common parent and athlete questions is: How much running will we actually do? Our primary goal is for athletes to get better and to learn more about running; but the pitfall of many camps is that they do way more running than a typical HS athlete can handle. So while we are a running camp, please don’t come in thinking that you will be expected to run significantly more than you do during a normal week of summer training. Everyone’s mileage should stay roughly in line with what they have been doing all summer; so if you have been averaging about 20-30 miles a week in June and July, we would want you doing about 4-5 miles per day at camp.
On the other hand, for those who have been hitting heavy mileage, we will have plenty of opportunities to get it in. The main run of the day is in the morning, but we always have an optional second run in the afternoon that campers can take advantage of.
